Don't be so silly, there's only so many gongs each year, if they gave them to common old footballers there wouldn't be any left for their friends in politics.

Any time from 1993 they could have realised the cock up they had made. I know they all got MBE’s or OBE’s or whatever but at least say in 2016 after 50 years they could have given them all knighthoods.
Just embarrassing that no mark crooks like Green (Philip not Robert) have them but another winner goes without. Imagine Martin Peters will too

I've never warmed to Geoff Hurst, but recently he's been making the point quite vociferously that he only got his as representative of Bobby and the others.

Yeah but Phillip Green never played in goal, he was too busy ripping the pension fund off

Why on didn’t the players get one after it was realised what a disgrace it was that Bobby died without one? Scandalous
It’s still Sir Philip Green isn’t it?

I see ex Stoke players and fans are attempting to get him a posthumous knighthood and good luck to them as I think he deserved one along with our Bobby and the rest of the 66 heroes

I was in the North Bank right behind that penalty save from Geoff Hurst. Banks knew that Hurst always aimed top left with his penalties and relied mainly on power rather than accuracy. So he went there and tipped the ball over the crossbar, where it landed somewhere near me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0c0WIL3fGs
I didn't go to the 2nd leg but went up to the decider at Old Trafford, which led to even more anguish for West Ham fans.

Agree with all that had beem said,an exceptional goalkeeper amd a very decent man.
I was at UP for the semi final when he saved sir Geoff's penalty. At 11 years old it was my first experience of having my heart broken.
RIP Mr Banks.
